another great record from the box that went missing - this one, a fabulous soundtrack by one of my alltime favourite jazz composers lalo schifrin. he is so brilliant. 'new orleans procession' reminds me of radiohead's 'life in a glass house,' and after a starting with a wonderfully lazy, floundering march it drops into a classic schifrin piano bossa nova and back into march again. there's even this crazy redneck track called 'the cock fight' that has these crazy orchestral breaks dubbed over a frenetic banjo action track. i just love it! and the ray charles vocal theme is great. i keep thinking he must be high, and does he feel like the cincinnati kid? definitely one of my favourite soundtracks.
the record has some surface noise throughout so ocd soundfolk beware.

hi tanmoy,
the paul desmonds were pulled i think because they are on sale at amazon as cd re-releases. this happens occasionally, and i respect the action of rapidshare and the 'powers that be' - it is required to keep the blog running and to allow the sharing of other non-profit music.
if you send me your email we can maybe initiate a private exchange.
thanks,
david.
