Your blog has encouraged me to listen to Paul Mauriat, Raymond Lefevre & others...artists I would've dismissed as "James Last type" artists otherwise...& this compilation has encouraged me to download your bobby hutcherson & the night strings uploads. Thank you for sharing your tastes & informing ours...My favourite track from Riz Ortolani's "Cosi Dulce..." has always been "Sweet Proposal", only a minute & a half long but I keep coming back to it. Music is so important to many of us, thank you for taking the time to share your taste. It means a lot.

Retro-teque has posted Roger Webb's De Wolfe LP "Like A Friend" if you didn't see it

Thanks Dom :). I'm excited about the Roger Webb lp and am busy downloading it. I'm also getting "Cosi dulce.." as i'm not familiar with ortolani's discography and have been unsure of where to start.
It is my pleasure sharing, and i'm glad you have found stuff to enjoy.

My favourite Riz Ortolani soundtrack is for the film "Confessions Of A Police Captain", the main theme is amazing. A lot of people like his "Cannibal Holocaust" soundtrack, but I'm not a fan. You will find 20 odd Ortolani scores inc. "Confessions of A Police Captain" at vintagevinylscores.blogspot.com. One of the records there I'd recommend is a compilation of Ortolani scores from the films of Damiano Damiani.

Thanks Dom, I'll check it out when I get home.

Exquisite selection!

Many of those tracks were new to me, others I knew in different versions by other artists.
Really interesting! Thank you very much for sharing this with us!

About Ortolani: do you know the compilations series "Easy Tempo" from some years back? (Volumes 01-10, 1996-2000)

He was featured on there with many tracks, there I got to know his works. Very recommended!

Yay! I'm so glad you like it :). I just got some of the east tempos for a friend of mine. Cool compilations.

First track (Berto Pisano - Tema di Katerina) sounds a lot like a variation of Quincy Jones' "Theme From The Anderson Tapes" to me.

dom said...

Yes, it's certainly borrowed from The Anderson Tapes.

Dear Detour (I don't see your e-mail address anywhere) I just want to tell you that this compilation is excellent, I enjoyed it very much, I have discovered new versions of old songs I've never heard before. I would lik to ask you for an LP of Fausto Papetti (sax) called "Ambiance Slow" in the Fontana catalog, contaning among others "La ragazza con la valigia", "Ebb tide" and "Cimarron". It's dated about 1965 abd 1967.

Not finished listening through the full set but I have heard enough to say well done! You have captured a period and a mood, which could have been dull because of familiarity but aha, you have much that surprises in your sphere of musical awareness.

A terrific comp! You had some Roger Webb in there that I'd never even heard of and I have a lot of Roger Webb. Great job!

Hiya Detour.
That's an excellent collection. You have shown your good taste, especially Lalo Schifrin. I love all of them though, and there's nothing wrong with a little bit of melancholia, on the contrary, I think it's very creative!!

Anyhow, also to let you know that the link no longer works. Great pity.

Warm regards, Nigel
